USA Triathlon has announced the host venue for next year’s USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships, which will take place September 13-15, 2024.
Atlantic City, New Jersey is the venue of choice, with the event moving from Milwaukee. Chasing qualification to the USA Age Group team, a number of American amateurs are expected to make the trip out.
Last year in Milwaukee, the PTO Tour US Open was run in conjunction with USAT Nationals and this announcement potentially provides a clue as to where a possible leg of the 2024 PTO calendar may be heading in the States.
A marquee event
As USA Triathlon’s longest running event, the National Championship often sees close to 6,000 athletes making the trip over to compete, with family and friends who travel out to support playing a crucial part in the incredible buzz and excitement that usually surrounds the event.
With athletes racing the Olympic Distance National Championship on the Saturday and the Sprint Distance National Championship on the Sunday, it is set to be an action packed weekend next September, with various other events such as the Open Water Swim competition during race week.
Daniel Gallagher, the Director of Sports Sales for the Atlantic City Sports Commission, was over the moon with USA Triathlon’s decision to host the event in New Jersey, a testament to the sports continued popularity in the US.
“The Atlantic City Sports Commission is thrilled to bring this world-class event to our seaside destination. We believe that both our natural landscape and innate amenities will provide the athletes and spectators with an unforgettable experience.”
