British Paralympic star Lauren Steadman picked up her first win of the season in Malaga this weekend, as the Paralympic Champion won comfortably in Spain with a fantastic performance.

Steadman, had earlier in the season finished second twice at the World Triathlon races in Besancon and Montreal, before finishing third at the World Triathlon Para Series in Swansea and most recently third at the World Triathlon Para Championship in Pontevedra.

One year out from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where Steadman will look to defend her title from Tokyo, the Brit is now currently ranked #4 in the World Triathlon Paralympic rankings.

Steady progress heading to Paris

Having controversially been left off the start list at the Paris Test Event in August, Steadman has finished the season in style over the past two months with brilliant back-to-back podiums in Pontevedra and now Malaga.

Having lost out to close rivals Claire Cashmore and Grace Norman in Pontevedra, Steadman was dominant in their absence in Malaga, beating second place finisher Gwladys Lemoussu of France by close to four minutes.

Building a big lead with a great swim-bike combo, Steadman also split a strong 17:20 on the run, which is a step in the right direction having lost ground to Cashmore and Norman in Pontevedra over the final discipline.

Not on the start list for the final World Triathlon Para Cup of the season in Taranto, Italy, Steadman now has a long winter ahead of her building into the Paris Paralympic Games next year in the French capital.
