The Paralympics are under way and the best para triathletes in the world will bid for the 11 gold medals on offer at Paris 2024.

It’s the third time that para triathlon has featured at the Games – and the number of medals is up from eight in Tokyo three years ago.

In our TV guide for those 11 races, we have all the info you need, including start times, streaming and links to our preview pieces around the main medal contenders.

How to watch live and para triathlon start times

We have a live embed below from the UK’s Channel 4 so you don’t have to leave this page.

There should have been two days for competition on Sunday 1 September 2024 and Monday 2 September 2024 but organisers decided on Thursday to run the whole 11-event programme on the Sunday owing to ongoing concerns about the water quality in the River Seine.

But THEN on Sunday they changed the goalposts again with the water quality STILL not good enough – and now we can confirm the races WILL GO AHEAD today (Monday September 2).

That means the revised schedule for Monday September 2 is as follows:

  • 08:15:00 PTWC1 Men and 08:18:00 PTWC2 Men
  • 08:20:00 PTWC1 Women and 08:23:38 PTWC2 Women
  • 09:25:00 PTS3 Men
  • 09:30:00 PTS2 Men
  • 09:35:00 PTS2 Women
  • 12:00:00 PTVI1 Men and 12:02:41 PTVI2/3 Men
  • 12:05:00 PTVI1 Women and 12:08:11 PTVI2/3 Women
  • 12:20:00 PTS5 Men
  • 12:25:00 PTS4 Men
  • 12:35:00 PTS5 Women
  • 12:40:00 PTS4 Women
  • (all times are local, CET. UK is one hour behind, Eastern Time is six hours behind)

How to watch on TV and live stream

As a general rule, the broadcasters who provided the Olympics coverage in your region will also tend to cover the Paralympics.

There are exceptions though and one notable one is the UK where it is now Channel 4 with the blanket coverage rather than the BBC – as you can see from the embed above.

It’s Channel 4’s biggest ever broadcast with more than 1,300 hours of live sport airing for free across across Channel 4, More4, Channel 4 Streaming and Channel 4 Sport’s YouTube. All content will also be broadcast with subtitles, while live peak time sport on Channel 4 will have closed audio description and live sport on More4 and Channel 4 Streaming on weekday afternoons will include BSL live signing.

Discovery Eurosport again provides coverage across Europe while in the host country there will be 24-hour coverage on France Télévisions,

German viewers are again able to watch the race on ARD/ZDF, Italy airs coverage on RAI while the racing in Spain will be on RTVE, in the Netherlands it’s NOS while NRK do the honours in Norway.

In North America, CBC will be providing coverage in Canada and NBC/Peacock will broadcast and stream in the United States.

Elsewhere, the action will be available on Nine in Australia, Globo in Brazil, Fuji TV/NHK/Nippon TV/TBS/TV Asahi/TV Tokyo in Japan, SKY NZ in New Zealand and SuperSport in South Africa.

Para triathlon course at Paris 2024

The spotlight is again on the River Seine for the swim section of the various races and it’s now a waiting – and monitoring – game too see what can take place from the pontoon at the Pont Alexandre III bridge.

But all athletes, across all sport classes and genders, will race over the same sprint distance course. That hopefully comprises of a 750m swim in the Seine, a multi-lap 20km bike course and finishing with a 5km run, again raced over multiple laps and in front of many of Paris’ most famous monuments.

There are also cobbles to contend with and a key point to note is that the racing is in non-drafting format.

Leading contenders

Now is the time to check out this fantastic pre-event preview from our expert John Levison.

He runs the rule over every single race and gives his picks as to where the medals will go.
